Futures Past
a Sarah McGregor Mystery

“Smart, sexy, and spontaneous” was how friends described Sarah McGregor...until the day her impulsive behavior resulted in an accident that killed her husband and left her disabled. With scars cut as deeply into her psyche as her flesh, Sarah runs away from her life in California to the red rocks of Sedona where she buries herself in the art she loves. The only two things that matter to Sarah are her son, who’s at college on a basketball scholarship, and her gallery. But she’s lonely. Selling other people’s paintings is a poor substitute for love until a mysterious stranger wanders into her life.

“I stood up, stepped from behind my desk. An involuntary shiver ran through my body as he studied me. I was aware of the nakedness I felt beneath the thin silk knit of my sweater. It was as if he could see through everything, read every thought, feel every sensation. And I found the sense of exposure exciting.”

Despite her wariness, Sarah finds herself drawn to Nate. He’s tall, handsome, and makes her laugh. They share beers and a college basketball game and suddenly, Sarah opens to the idea of loving again only to discover that the man is not who he presents himself to be. As a matter of fact, he hasn’t a clue who he really is or where he is from.
